It was the third hour of the third day and Roberto looked with pleasure at the work his men had done with the villagers. The old farmer laughed back, "everything is changing," he said, "but I will remember it."

The men came back with their picks and shovels over their shoulders and walked towards the vans parked on the market square. The kettle had already been loaded and soon nothing would remind the villagers of them except the fresh water that could irrigate the fields thanks to the repaired asequias. Louis touched his forehead as the procession passed and everyone answered his greeting. "It does have something," he thought, "we'll keep it and he joined in with the last guard.
