The Son speaks with authority!

The Deity of Jesus Christ

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. (John 1:1-5) - NASB.

In Scripture we see that in all circumstances Jesus speaks with authority and in the first chapter of the Gospel of John we see why. Also we read that He was the Light of men who shines in the darkness. It is very sad that the darkness didn't comprehend it!

Scripture tells us that Jesus is God manifested in flesh. If you understand this doctrine and you take this as Truth you will understand Why Jesus was a man that spoke with authority and Why He was the sinless Lamb of God!

I will take you through Scripture were Jesus speaks with authority. Although I'm not a Theologian, my prayer is that my teaching will be through the power of the Holy Spirit, so that it is not my work but God's. For Him is the Praise and Glory!

The Witness John

There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. (John 6-11) - NASB.

So to say John was a pioneer for the Son of God with a special task: testify about the true Light, by Who the world was spoken into existence through the work of the Spirit!

In the letter of Hebrews we read this:

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they. (Hebrews 1:1-4) - NASB.

At last! God has spoken in His Son who is heir over what? All things! Who made the world and upholds all things by the word of His power? The Son! What is the current position of the Son? At the right hand of the Majesty on high, what speaks of Power! At what moment the Son took His place? After He had made purification of sins. What is the Son doing there? He is our High Priest who prays and pleads for us by the Father! What is His name: Jesus Christ our Lord!

The Word Made Flesh

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’” For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. (John 14-18) - NASB.

The Son was born by Mary through the Power of the Holy Spirit. So He became a human under the Law and at the same time He was God so He couldn't sin: He was the perfect Lamb of God. Very important to accept that truth! Furthermore: John admitted that Jesus existed before Him. That's because He is the eternal Son of God!

The Law was given through Moses: do this and you shall live! Like a mirror, God showed His standard to His people Israel. But the Law of God didn't give life to His people. Read for example the letter to the Romans of the Apostle Paul.

The Law was lived by Jesus Christ and only He could do this because He was and still is God in flesh! Again: He couldn't sin! Grace and truth were realized through Him.

What a difference!

To close with this reflection: The eternal Son who was in the bosom of the Father has explained or revealed Him. That's why a Christian has more then enough by knowing Jesus through the Holy Spirit!
